Gannets Cafe' Bistro

Aaron & Kirsty established Gannets in 2018 and began operating from 63 High Street Laurencekirk in early 2019. This existing facility will continue to operate under the Gannets umbrella and run in parallel with the new facility. The goal has always been to provide each customer with food that makes your mouth water and your heart sing. Whether it’s to share, to gift or to enjoy with family and friends, they hope to have something to tempt you. From the everyday menu to specials, sweet treats and gourmet afternoon teas to a range of platters and speciality breads there is something for everyone. Gannets provide you with fantastic food which is prepared specially for each and every customer every time without exception.

Since opening in 2018 Gannets have adapted to climatic conditions to develop a strong community feel and deliver time and again superb bakery produce and delicacies. The growth of the Gannets brand and enthusiastic following from the local community and further afield has driven Aaron and Kirsty to take the lead and submit the “change of use application” for the above property.

Macgillivray Architects were appointed to co-ordinated the planning application for the Change of Use on behalf of Aaron & Kirsty.   Planning approval for the Change of Use was released July 2022.

The existing Hairdressers has been empty for a prolonged period of time and the passion and drive Aaron and Kirsty have to create an extension to the Gannets service is second to none. To them Gannets isn’t just a café or coffee shop, it’s an ethos, it’s a way of life, a platform to express Aaron’s love and skill of all things food and importantly provides an opportunity to nurture the next generation of hospitality professionals.

It is envisaged the new facility would be utilised in a very similar way to the current premises at 63 High
Street. This would comprise of breakfast, lunch and light bites being available throughout the day as well
as coffee and cakes. They would eventually like to be in a position to offer an evening menu on Friday and
Saturday’s with a casual yet more fine dining experience. They would also like to open on a Sunday if there
was sufficient demand. With the expansion of potential delicacies and bakery produce Aaron and Kirsty
will create a purpose-built kitchen to facilitate efficient creation and delivery of the goods and bakery
produce to the public and potentially other local businesses.
